Abstract & Brief |
Fundamentally, ecology is like a society, only it is much bigger than ours; ecologists are like economists, only they investigate the economy of nature instead of that of human. We will be talking about ecology in four basic scales after the rough introductory section: population, community, and ecosystem. They are stacked and connected one by one, each acts as the building block of the superior system, until finally we arrive at the global level, with the most dynamic, diversified, and ultimate living things system on the planet, the biosphere.
